A 'Testing Testing'......Time

Things have been CRAZY to say the least at G13 HQ, and works really has been done , in all Quarters of the Girl13 world!

Last week was a fab gig at the Dog n Muff, and , we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and, hope you did too. In terms of our sound, style, presence, and, progression, this one really was a landmark gig!

It's good to see some familiar faces now arriving at our gigs as well!

Thanks to all who came and rocked with us. Mia, Dalz and Leah especially. You guys make it all worthwhile, we respect and appreciate your support. To quote a new fan ' I don't even like Rock Music, i'm into Drum n Bass, HipHop, Soul RnB.....but I f**kin LOVE YOUR MUSIC'. 'That's awesome to hear......now Dan, take this guy's picture'.....Vinnie said ;)

Last week, Spencer also re-discovered something, only to lose it the same day....NOT his virginity! No, it was an.....erm.....well.....belt....of sorts :? Spencer found his 'long lost' string belt (free at any nice post office). His excitement however, was short lived, after Mike donated one of his own belts. Spencer now has a new catchphrase

'I felt like a tramp, but now i've had a re-vamp' :P Bring it on home, you style Guru!

A new banner is on the cards this week, as we have been busy getting all the available band funds together, so we can have a more 'noticeable' presence at gigs! We have also been getting Button Badges finished, so that we can support our fans and 'give more back' to you guys, who take time out to come see us! We also found our long lost 'Roadie' Girl13 cut-off jacket. Heavy T doesn't know he'll be wearing it yet :P

'Teach' is now part of our official G13 Team....Or should we say 'Miss Conduct'?! For the past week the guys have been having Vocal sessions with Ceri, which are paying off. Ceri also loves telling the band what to do.
'I like nothing better after a hard days graft at the school to hand out detentions to the Girl Thirteeners!' Tristan, stay behind after class :P
Relaxation and Breathing are an important and essential part of the singing process.Ceri, and Vinnie (left pic) can be seen getting in touch with their inner selves! Well, hard work does start from the bottom up :P
*thankyou.....i'm here all week* ;)

Miss Management Emma, was there at the gig on Friday and, as a result of the lads working hard, she will give them their first bit of funding starting on 30th November. Ems said ' its a performance based funding. The more effort that's put in, the more funding they get for things like Transport, Amps, whatever they deem as most important'.

Today, the G13 crew, are proving their creativity, by getting funding via other means. You guessed it, car booting! Spencer, Vinnie and Dan are all getting up at 5am to brave it at Splott Market.....pronounced Supp-Low-Ah Market, if you're Dan ;) Just look at that Junk! It's all gotta go, and with the Dosh from this, and, Ems funding, the guys will be able to afford bigger, better amps, transport and a mixing console for some home recording. 'Ave a nice day u luuuuuuvely people u'. :)

Help ....

Dan
'Did you know its perfectly legal to urinate against your car, as long as you're on the rear right hand side and your left arm is on the car'. Well, that's what Dan tells us anyway, and, we'd certainly like to see him try it! ;)

After a day of picking up a new TV and tuning it, for the Managers Mum * she was only bothered about being able to watch the Weakest Link* there was a cold reception awaiting Mike, Vinnie and Dan, when they broke down near Cyncoed...or KIN-CO-EDDD....as Dan affectionately calls it! *Sigh* too many american porno films methinks :P That's Kelly the Co-Ed, Dan.

Mike called Vocal Tutor 'Teach' to the rescue and spent the last of his chip money on Diesel..and we don't mean Vin Diesel, cos he just gay ok! One and a half hours, plus a Jimmy-Can later, and, the guys were on their way to an acoustic jam......Just what is it with Dan and his JimmyCan man fetish?

Vinnie had a chance to perfect his backing vocals for the forthcoming 'New World Song'. Vince also thought it would be comical to suggest the Dans car run on wind power in the future! Spencer would have been in his element. Then Vinnie thought it would be good to manufacture a makeshift 'homing beacon' out of wood bark! :P

The cold wait was eased with the talk of Army Manoevers and Tank strategies. Am I the only one here that thinks Dan missed his vocation and could be in a fighter plane shouting 'chocs away matey'? Ok, maybe just me then.

Badgera-Go-Go!!!

Well £00 from a gig where you are promised £60 is not a good thing, especially when you are in a band where money doesn't exactly fall from the Sky or grow on trees! Still never let it be said that the guys from Girl13 are'nt professional .They in fact, more than made up for no pay, by taking to the tables and selling badges! Check out our myspace and see if you're on there!

Despite the soundguys looking more stressed that a mother hen in a battery farm, the Girl13 guys made rock history once more, invading the sweet lil venue known the the Dog n Muff in Llywnypia, Waaaahey! Apart from a few initial sound issues with the Mich. everything went according to plan. Thanks to everyone who came to support us ! :)
No Bingo, mmmmnnnn Thursday! We like Thursdays :P

Yes, we know Andy got carried away F**king around everywhere onstage, Dan went into Robot mode, and his voice got possessed! Is it something to do with the house water? Spencer had only had water, and, looked as if his soul had gone the way of the faeries :? Apples are most definately needed for the next gig!

Tuesday night the guys had a session with a classically trained Opera singer, to help them work on 'hitting' those notes. 3 Blind Mice never sounded so good!

Its been a busy week perfectng the 3 new tracks and also 'road testing' the new FX unit Vinnie has. We also have new badges designs out, which will be available next gig, at a bargain price of 50p, unless you Dance a lot in which case we'll let ya have fun free of charge! *sigh* how generous are we :P

Mmmmmm Going down the Mine

Ok, gig tonight at the Buffalo Bar is off due to promoter wedding crap. That's not to be taken as 'a promoter is doing crap..Or indeed, crapping at a wedding'! Maybe in an alternate Universe! We're definately on for this Thursday at the Dog n Muff :)

Vinnie Week

Vinnie is a friendly easy going lad who has recently announced he doesn't wish to attend any social events, football or otherwise, unless he signs a contract. As footballers go, Vince is not too shabby, scoring in his 5 a-side team, usually on Sundays. He also has a keen eye for the ladies, and can be seen regularly hanging with the Emo ladies at the Barfly!

Originating in the depths of Newport, Vinnie was born, has a Mum and a Dad along with 2 Sisters.
and his fav. Haunts include the Meze Lounge, and the Legendary TJs (though he is still unhappy he never got payed once for doing a gig there).

Vinnie started off playing guitar and writing songs in a band called PRIMA LUCE. You can still hear his old bass player and buddy, Liam, sing them whilst drunk! The band did a lot of gigging before Uni. and other commitments took their toll. Vince then got so depressed and withdrawn he decided he needed a life, and, so,his job at 118 was born!! Vinnie is now a Supervisor there, and intends to fully support his band when he becomes Top Dog, by sponsoring Girl13. 'Every band needs a helping hand' will be the new company slogan! Of course, once Vinnie woke up after being Electrocuted by Heavy T's 'fly swatter' he realised it was all just a dream.

Vinne, has just bought a new guitar Fx unit, so look-out Rhondda this Thursday, as he will be cutting up the Dance floor with his new licks! Vinnie has been heard practising ...(heavy T noticed so it must be good).. Watch this space. The guys are also working hard on their backing Vocal abilities right now.

3 new songs are being perfected in time for the Thursday Gig at the Dog n muff:-

The 9th
Radioactive
Winnie+ the Wonder Years

We're also getting some badges underway too, hopefully in time for the gig.

Last weeks show at the Buffalo Bar, Cardiff, was a great success, and thanks to all that came, saw, drank and laughed, and applauded. We really so appreciate you getting up or you ASS and supporting us :)

Dan
It was agreed Dans British Bulldog look didn't exactly work,at the last gig, and as penance for this, he now has a cold :P However, the Hat, and fruity earrings went down a treat, so they're a must have for Thursday!
Andy
Andy realised he loves his Mum way too much to talk trash about her during NSPCC, so if you hear the words 'Brother' during the song, you know why ;) He started the proceedings again, by getting his top off, whilst 'whipping' the audience into a seXual frenzy!
Spencer
Spencer was caught 'pants down' at gig, thinking about something a girl said to him 3months ago.
'Dont live in the past or get so affected by what women say to you..... Size doesn't matter!' we heard Mike cry. It was then Spencer informed him, he was upset do to a slur on his World of Warcraft character, Mojo, and he never got over it. As a resultor some re-assessment,Spencer is now unofficially in Drummer re-hab for the next 2 weeks, and, working on his Mojo.

The guys are currently looking at other successful bands as role models. What better than to learn from the best, if you wanna make it? They also are looking to get their live set as raunchy as possible. Given the fact they ALREADY get half nekked, they agreed FANS NEED MORE!

Tonight, they are acoustic jamming, and, putting the finishing touches to the 'new' additional songs.
Andy and Spencer are currently looking for work, so if anyone needs a cheeky grin and a helping hand, you know who to call......no not Ghostbusters (see The Deafs for that one). Still, with all of them working in say Argos, at least they could practise harmonies in the back room!

Danzig Or Misfits....?

If being part of the Girl13 collective was like a day in a health farm, I would be on permanent detox, not to mention enemas!

Last night was gig night at the Buffalo and it rocked, the audience sure seemed to like it. Thanks to everyone who turned up to support us. We had a blast!

This past week has seen Dan lock himself in a toilet for 2 hours, after a drinking binge. He said, "I was just attempting to get away from some fans and peace out", whilst his live in girlfriend was reportedly hearing his chant "I must not be ill, I must not be sick, feeling bad is not an option". Next time Dan will remember not to fall asleep on the job, and I don't mean gigs. ;)

Vinnie has crashed and burned........in major need of some health tips, vinnie went to see a specialist Doctor, due to illness, and *having trouble living*, all took their toll on him. "The Doc. said I was stressed and that I should try to eat......more". Sometimes, just even being alive is tough. :P

Spencer has been beating himself up on a regular basis......"Why gel and not mousse?! Damn my afro to Hades".

So, in the past week the guys have been re-assessing themselves and their roles in the band. Working hard, as ever, the guys went through the Xtremes of G13, at a live jam Monday, adding some long awaited changes to the set. With the daily work on vocal harmonies, things are sure to look good for the next few gigs.

Yesterday the guys 'asked the Guru' for advice on how to get better and improve. 'The Guru' is the all powerful, ever knowing one, who shall otherwise be known as James. :P
Spencer and Vinnie realised they let themselves become affected by outside influences, while Danzig Dan has his 'own' plan! So, if you ever hear him say, "sure I'll be over tomorrow", this should translate as "F**K you, I won't do what ya tell me". ;)

With the gig in the evening, it was an awesome night!

Thanks to Laura and Liz A.K.A. Flyer crew and Heavy of the T, resuming his roles as Big Dude, band Photographer, and Roadie! Wow! See you next Monday at the Buffalo. :)
