April 23rd - Weekly Update

Well its been a busy week for song writing especially for Mike and Vinnie who are in a song writing "zone". Other songs include:-
Gayness - which includes the lyric "ur gonna feel a whole lot of butt pain"
Scarlett - a punk tribute for Raven.
State of Mind - Mikes inner pain expressed through ROCK.
Crimes - A song from the pen of Jules about being unfaithful
And they are just the completed ones, also in the pipeline is a song called 1976, which is about Hippies i think? Also this week in a different part of Girl13 HQ, Mike and myself (2 of the 4 who make-up Marked Photography), Went out in to the wide world too take some photos to help improve our artistic range. Too update on the current singer situation Andy has now officially left G13, differences in opinion between himself and another band member. Andy made the decision and left. But all is not lost, with Jack remembering how good it was to sing with Girl13. Has now joined the guys, he most likely won't make his debut until next month but its still good news for all you fans. Just to prove how hard G13 work to make some quality tunes, in the practice this past Sunday the guy jammed until 3 in the morning! Now is that hardcore or what?
Also don't forget the upcoming gigs at toms bar Tuesday 24th and at the Buffalo Bar on the 26th so be there! This has been the weekly update, don't miss next weeks "Sin City" update. Till then goodnight, Heavy T

April 16th - Buffalo Bar - Happy Birthday Vinnie

Hello again, Time for an update and gig details in one! Now that is value. But before we get to the happy news, something a little less joyful. Unfortunately Andy has left the band. A bit sad to see him depart but its something he had to do. Well as you can tell from the title of this blog, the gig at Buffalo was a double celebration as it was Vinnie's birthday! So if you were there, then why didn't you buy him a drink? He is really funny when he's drunk! But anyway on with the gig.
With Andy not there it was up to Jules to take up singing duties. But that's not all, because of the split set we seen a bit of a role reversal. With Vinnie on bass and Mike on guitar, and then back to there usual weapon of choice for the second set. But to add to the all the excitement, Jack popped up on stage and sang some off the songs with the band. Now is that cool or what?

O.k then, we like to thank Hand of the Daedra and The Aesthetics for playing. Also for everyone who came along and shared this night with us. And a special shout out goes to Mia, who helped the guys out all night. So then once again if you so foolishly missed out on this gig (tut, tut, shame on you). Then don't worry all you have to do is wait until the 24th, and go to Toms Bar!
Well i hope to see you all on the 24th, and goodbye for now.

April 13th - The Riverbank - Girl13 heat up the Taff!

O.k don't let the fact that its Friday the 13th put you off, Girl13 are not scared of anything!
But if you did venture out to the Riverbank, then you would of seen an awesome gig! Unfortunately Andy couldn't be there because of prior commitments. But Jules was there to step up to the mic, and so in the darkness 0f this basement venue Girl13 started to play.

With an amazing set and Jules singing with lots of passion, it was a good time to introduce the newest members of the Girl13 street team the Merch Girls. These Girls are here to display and promote all Girl13 merchandise Including the Beautiful T-shirts we have for sale. Also there quite good looking to boot. Anyway it was a great gig and you should have been there, didn't i tell you all to write it on your foreheads?

Alright then if you did miss this Cardiff gig then you won't have to wait long. Because on Monday the 16th, Girl13 are playing once again at The Buffalo Bar. The same day as Vinnie's birthday, so all cards and gifts for Vinnie will be welcomed. Plus for an added bonus if your a fan of Girl13 and couldn't get into a gig because you were under 18. Well now you can, as the 16th is an all ages gig. So we hope to see you there!

Here's hoping i see you all on Monday from Heavy T, Later.

April 9th - Weekly Update - Cups up for Vinnie

Well it's Monday, it's Heavy T and here is the weekly Update. Its been a good week in Girl13 HQ, many things have been done. Raven got home safely, Vinnie moved back into his own room and Jules may have disappeared for 4 days? But I'm not to sure about the last one maybe it was me going to sleep to early? But i have heard rumours that he either had food poisoning or was off auditioning for the new Tony Jaa movie?

But nether the less its been a good week! With the re-found Jules back Vinnie was in for a lesson he would never forget! Singing lessons! I'm not quite sure what went on in that room, but from what i heard it was good, at one point i did hazard a peek and saw that Vinnie was singing into a cup! I have since been told the reason why he was, It was to help him hear his voice properly. Crazy Eh?

Also in other news, A gig has been booked for the 3rd of may. Many thank to Milano. Also if you want to check up on any other gig dates then either check out the Myspace at www.myspace.com/girl13music or alternatively at www.girl13.co.uk
Also before i forget Girl13 will be playing at The Riverbank on Friday the 13th, So write it on your foreheads with a big black marker and be there!!

(Warning, please do not really write it on your heads, because i will not take responsibility for you doing so! If you want to that's fine, but when you get thrown out of your Job/School/collage don't say "you only did it because Heavy T or Girl13 told you to" that's just wrong!)

Anyway keep your cups to your mouths and your eyes peeled to this place, because we'll be back soon. Good night. Heavy T out

April 1st - Buffallo Bar - I april fool you not, An accoustic gig.

Aright then here we are. Raven is down for the week, But we have no gigs to showcase for her!

Well how about something at the open mic night at Buffalo?

Sound good?

Well it did. With only Three members of Girl13 available it was a quick set of three songs Cut, Punkrock Girl and Be Around.

It was a nice change in tempo, to have an acoustic set in mist of the usual rockier gigs. Showing that Girl13 can slow it down as well as rock out with the best of them. Unfortunately there no photos of this particular gig as it was pretty busy at buffalo that night so i couldn't get close enough with the camera. I'll try harder next time. But you do get treated to some more from the Callaghan's gig, so enjoy.

But for now my friends its goodbye from me, Later eveyone.

March 29th - Callaghan's - Suddenly there was this gig...

Hello there. You here again for some more Girl13 Info? well don't fear, because here it comes! Fast and in your eyeballs. Once again on short notice, the guys are called upon to play a gig. This time at Callaghan's in Cardiff. The story goes like this....

While at a practise up at G-Force Studios, there was was a phone call. Vinnie answered, and after a few hesitant minutes Vinnie said 'guys we've got a gig tonight'.
But being the kings of short notice, they moved into action and rushed to set up at Callaghan's.
Even thought it was on short notice the guys still managed to get to the gig early. Also they discovered that Girl13 were the headlining band. But when you get a sound check done nice and early there is only one thing you can do once you've finished, and that's go back home and chow down until the doors open.

With a very good gig done and dusted It was back to Girl13 HQ. Where Spencer literally did start dusting! In preparation for Raven's arrival, who is Marked Photography's graphics wonder woman. Cleaning like a man possesed Spencer didn't stop until he had cleaned every where he could see, and some places he couldn't as well.
With that i'll be tidying myself away, until next time Heavy T out.

27th March - Clwb Ifor Bach - Girl13 have Toast in Milano

Let's not ever hear that Girl13 don't do anything for anyone else! Tonight's gig was for charity.

Along with Milano and Toast, the upstairs of Ifor Bach had been hired out and tickets were being sold. But on the night with so little parking space, hungry sound people all the Girl13 crew had to be called upon, including Me being roadie had no problems with my tasks at hand. But also giving an always helping hand was Ceri, in what would be her last G13 gig.

The Merchandise Table had been set up and 3 T-shirts had been sold. The band took to the stage and played a near perfect set. With Spencer being on top form and everything else being done awesomely, the flattering comments that followed were more than deserved. Also Jules was taken aback as well when he was told he was 6'2" and not 6'1" by the Guru. Well the night was finished off downstairs in the rock night, then back to G13 HQ for the classic film 'Drop Dead Fred'

So special thanks go out to Toast for putting on a great gig. Milano who turned up at last minute to play. And finally to Ceri who has helped G13 alot over the past few months and will be missed as she has now moved to Milton Keynes to start her new job. Good Luck Ceri from all at girl13.

26th March - Don't mess with the nome!!

Time again for the weekly news update. But this time around it was a practice with a difference! With some of the timing issues in the music, Girl13 sometimes need an enforcer to help keep them up to the beat. So in steps the metronome! But this ain't no ordinary metronome my friends! This is the 'Super Metronome' with added P.A.

So with the ticking guardian in place, Girl13 ticks the sound of the right beat improving all the way. There was even time for some posture lessons from Jules to Vinnie, to help him sing out loud and proud.

In other news a peek inside the fridge of Girl13, and Jules declares his love for the Noodles!
Stating that it's his favourite meal when combined with hot dogs.

Well thats the news for now, don't touch that dial.

24th March - Toms Bar - I-tang 4eva!!

Looks like we have some over the ocean action going on for this gig! Confused?
Another touring band from the states? No Get Amped are from Britain!
More in the form of our and girl 13 guest Ivan. He came all the way from New York just to visit and see Girl13 play. Now that's dedication for you! (Ivan's Red,White and Blue M&M's)

So on to the gig. Even though we were the first band on it didn't affect the quality of the performance. With some people even saying that Girl13 were the best band of the night.
Also Ivan or as we've come to know him I-Tang, was really impressed with the gig saying that there was alot of movement and energy, and that we had a great sound.

Also on that night due to a 'disruption' in communication between my brain and my hands. There are unfortunately no photos for this gig. Sorry people! But not t0 worry, to make sure this never happens again i have now glued the camera to my hand!
And on that bombshell i bid you fairwell till next time.

19th March - Fun For Fingers!

Well the time has come for the new and improved 'Monday Update'
A weekly glance into the lives of Girl 13.

This week its been business as usual Monday night and time for the jam up at G-Force studios.
The guys were all there, Vinnie even said it was nice having everyone at a practise instead of just 3. So with everyone there, G13 came to life and decided that today they would only go through new material!
And yes you did hear me right, Girl13 are working on new songs as we speak! (or read?)
With the introduction of new sounds, like the harmonica. Also even a bit of keyboard work as well.

The Practice was going well with songs from Jules and Andy, when all-of-the-sudden out came a song call 'Funky Boogaloo'! An instant Spencer favorite. But as soon as it appeared it had disappeared. Could this have the fabled song Tenacious D sang about? A song so awesome that it had to be erased from all mortal minds? As this question echos through the ages, I've come to the end of my update.
See you soon!
