FIGHT NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 16th Feb

Right grab a drink, get comfy this may take a while. I think we'll start at the beginning. Remember that gig we played in the Malsters - another last minute, Girl 13 save the night. Well since that night we've been looking forward to the legendary FIGHT NIGHT!!!

A lot of careful preparation went into the night. We had T-shirts made up and badges made up and tonnes of flyers printed off. This was the first Girl 13 Merchandise stall and it was gonna be like no other.

Since our last gig we've acquired a brand new Girl 13 member. His name is Jules and he's here to rock! After hearing Jules at the open mic night gig we played in the Buffalo bar earlier this year it was only a matter of time before we all joined forces to make an even more Kick-ASS sound. They'll be more information on our new member posted on the Girl 13 homepage at www.girl13.co.uk so go check it out.

Jules did an awesome job playing a gig only one week after joining - now thats professionalism!! We'd heard the crowd at Fight Night were like no other. They certainly lived up to that! Standing on stage behind the curtain a chant started up. Girl 13!!! Girl 13!!! Girl 13!!!! Girl 13!!!
The curtain went up and thanks to you guys we had been jump started full of energy!!!!

Of course there were a few small technical problems on stage. Jules' guitar amp wasn't working for the first 2 songs and Vinnie's guitar effects unit decided to test him too. All in all tho it was an AMAZING night - we had a great time and we cant wait to be back.

The Fans kicked ass, the venue rocked another 5 star rating sound-wise and the crew were awesome.
Thanks to everyone who bought a T-shirt and a badge, and even those of you who requested personal items like plectrums. We had some awesome feedback from the night and we'd like to thank each and everyone of you for your support!!! We love hearing from you!

Thanks also goes to Dan the promoter for just being the greatest promoter we've ever worked
with, not only did you put on a great night but you made us all feel really welcome in front of a crowd at a venue we'd never played. Thanks Emma (miss management) for all her help with the merchandise and of course thanks again to Mike for being Mike.

T-shirts now available on the myspace and girl13.co.uk site as well as badges!
- See you all soon ;o)

2nd Feb - Another last minute show at the Dog and Muff!?!

Ring ring....ring ring - Hey guys fancy doing a show at the Dog & Muff tonight. With our reputation, a last minute phone call leaving us 1 hr to get there....without a singer!?!.... HELL YEAH!!

Yet another gig that couldn't have happened without Mike. Still doing his thing for the band although not officially given the title "manager" anymore.... we all know hes the fountain of youth, knowledge and help when it comes to music! Mike took a phone call from Mr Fox and sent a text to Vinnie who was in work which read. "Fancy a gig tonight phone this number" After watching far too much 24 Vinnie replied "Thanks Tony I'll upload news to your PDA"

To cut a long story short the Gig was on and we'd agreed to it without knowing Andy couldn't make it. Thankfully Mike steps up to the mic to help out once again.

The show goes on!
It was the last gig before FIGHT NIGHT so we expected a crazy night. This is how it went down. - The power leads all got fried and stopped working. Vinnie ended up standing on a ledge next to the PA speaker and then to top it all off a fight broke out only 4 songs into the set. That reminds me of a time when i had a fight with a bread tray!It had a flattened crisp box as back up, but even with that i survived with just a bump to the eye....Anyway

What a way to get warmed up for FIGHT NIGHT!!!!....sadly we were then told to get off stage and there would be no more bands allowed at the dog and muff.....*sigh*....well we picked up our gear and muttered the words "we'll be back....oh yes...we will be back"

28 Jan 2007- Buffalo Bar - The return of Girl 13, Ball and all!

It was the night we'd been looking forward to. Girl 13 headlining the night and having as much time as they needed for an awesome sound check. Thanks again to Geoff who not only allowed us to have a great sound check but even helped us put the banner up!

It was a great night with tonnes of top local talent. Including a close friend of the band Jules who'd been to most Girl 13 gigs. Thanks for prepping the crowd for us Jules. "Girl 13 are on next and they're great!"

With that said and done the band s
tart their set. With the crowd being so light to begin with, it was only time before things began to pick up. forget when the circus come to town! More like when the ball come to buffalo! Seems like some people took "Dance" a little bit to seriously!
<--- (artists impression)

With the tux crew enjoying the delightful sounds of Girl13, and the 9th being what seems like a hit.
It all came too an end with the "new" classic "the darker side of me" but with people showing the darker side of the Tuxedo!

20 Jan 2007- The Royal Oak - YOU CANT MISS IT!!!!

RIGHT APPARENTLY WE SHOULD HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM FINDING THIS PLACE ITS BRIGHT YELLOW AND STRAIGHT ON.
Come on, its Girl 13. We wouldn't wanna make it that easy! After driving through every village we could find and getting to know the locals by asking about what seemed like a fictitious place, we finally got informed we were going the right way. "Just carry on along this road and keep going you cant miss it'll be straight in front of you, its by my house" ....oh thanks its by your house, that'll help us find it!....*ahem* IF ANYONE SAYS YOU CANT MISS IT TO US AGAIN WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SCREAM!!

Yup, that's the last time Mike gets directions for us :P
As you can probably imagine.... we missed it. WAHEY... not only did we miss it but we carried on along this road that we were on which just so happened to lead up...well....what we can only describe as a MOUNTAIN. Not just any mountain but a winding bending steep steep mountain. "If you drive off the edge we'd all die" - thanks for that Spencer! When we reached the peak of this mountain and had now gone higher than the clouds we could now see below us, we decided we'd come too far. - But here's the fun part, now we had to drive down, through the clouds into the fog and almost missing the venue again.
On the way down Vinnie gets a phone call from the promoter - "Hey guys, where are you?" "Up a mountain" Dan shouts. After explaining, once again the band are told you cant miss it. Its bright Yellow. People seem to forget that unless its painted with glow in the dark paint. At 7pm on a january evening its not going to stand out QUITE as much. Anyway we finally found it. Had a great gig with a great crowd. We even did a few covers!...I know crazy eh!!

Dan had a wireless bug, no it's not some amazonian insect. It's so he could walk about at gigs like he was in his living room. Mike said 'He walked up to me and kissed me whilst playing, I was really shocked.....but kinda liked it'. We got paid and asked to play again in July. At least this time we'll know how to get there..I think.

14 Jan 2007 Clwb Ifor Bach - HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMMA!

Girl 13 and Alison's OP?!? What a crazy combination!??!?! This was our first time in the Welsh Club. We'd heard mixed reviews some bands saying it was the best venue they'd played and others saying the sound was terrible. The official Girl 13 verdict is - 5 Stars. The sound crew were very professional and the P.A was great for a venue of a relatively small size.

We were asked to play this as a friend of the band had organized a night for his girlfriend's birthday party. Naturally we said yes and whenever you're paid in beer its always gonna be a fun night.

Congratulations to Dan who successfully had not only fixed the back window of his car.....but has now also managed to smash the other one...again.....with a bass amp. "Has anyone got any tape?!?!"

13 Jan 2007 The Beech Tree

It was great to be back at The Beech Tree. This time we knew how to get there and knew that providing Heavy T wasnt "busy plugging ming instead of merch to fans" our stuff would be safe. After the usual hardship of getting the banner up and the equipment ready we were told that despite 3 bands being scheduled to play. Girl 13 were not only now headlining but were the only band playing.

Well we wanted a long sound check and to have a kick ass flawless sound after our last gig without one. Lets just say we got it - after taking our time to get an awesomely heavy sound we sat back and had a drink (just not so much Guiness this time....Andy *ahem*) - Scribbled out a new full hour and a half set list and pulled together a great show. Like I said it was good to be back....shame about the chandeliers ;-s

12 Jan - Callaghans - Andy discovers Guiness and Cows

This was Girl 13's first time at Callaghans.
Unfortunately the sound guy turned up late which meant the band were unable to soundcheck, which was a lil sucky. Andy took to the cowbell like a bird laying an egg....painful at first but as things progressed it got easier. This could of course be due to the fact that the bar was selling Guiness for a very cheap price!! All in all a fun gig and, a learning experience - we took more on the door than the headliners and got offered a gig straight away at the buffalo :)

Geoff the promoter went on to say "well I could see what you guys were trying to do and love the idea! Fancy headlining on the 29th Jan in the Buffalo? I'll make sure you have a really good sound check like you deserve!"

Thanks Geoff - we'll see you there!
